Rafael Zahralddin Showcases Expertise of Diverse Professionals for Third Year in Webinar Series on Compliance for Financial Poise™ and West LegalEdCenter®

Elliott Greenleaf, P.C.’s Rafael Zahralddin (LCLD Fellow 2015) moderates an annual webinar series on Corporate and Regulatory Compliance through Financial Poise™ Webinars and West LegalEdcenter®. The series is now in its fourth year. Rafael originally developed the series in 2017 with Elliott Greenleaf attorneys Shelley Kinsella (LCLD Fellow 2016), Jarad Handelman, and Christine Wechsler (LCLD Fellow 2017).

Each year, Rafael staffs these panels with a diverse group of experts from law firms and corporations around the country, many of whom are Fellows of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, an organization of more than 300 members who serve as general counsel of major corporations or managing partners of the nation’s leading law firms. The LCLD Fellows Program works by identifying high-potential attorneys from diverse backgrounds and setting them on the path to leadership of their organizations.

Jonathan Friedland, the founder of Financial Poise and the DailyDAC, has stressed that faculty for Financial Poise webinars must be “top-flight,” “excellent communicators,” cannot “buy” their way in, and are carefully selected, based on recommendations from industry leaders. Rafael Zahralddin had been impressed with the LCLD program and experienced first hand the skills and talents of the LCLD Fellows. With that in mind, he suggested to Jonathan that he knew of a deep bench of thought leaders in the LCLD. Financial Poise allowed him to create and develop a series he thought was particularly suited to their knowledge base.

The first part of the series covers internal investigations, corporate law compliance, securities law compliance (with a focus on the Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and executive compensation. The various episodes examine these topics from a company’s perspective with a focus on the impact to the company’s day-to-day and long-term operations.

The second part of the series, to come in August, focuses on corporate and regulatory compliance as it relates to procurement and government contracting, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and data privacy and social media.

The episodes examine these topics from a company’s perspective, delving into compliance issues that pertain to specific company practices across industries and borders and impact companies of all sizes and types. This year each of the seminars also examines how the pandemic has impacted these crucial compliance areas.

The course is eligible for CLE credit in most states.
