Datuk Seri Krishna Kumar JP, graduated from the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth in the United Kingdom in 1992 with an Honours Degree.
At University, Datuk Seri was an ardent student activist being active in student welfare activities.
Due to his active involvement, Datuk Seri was elected the President of the Overseas Students Union comprising a total student population of about 15,000 students. He was an elected member of the Student Union and was an active committee member. He was also elected to be Chairman of the Anti Racism Committee and represented Wales at the Student’s International Forum.
The peak of his career as a student leader was when he was elected to represent Wales at the European Students Convention in 1990, to present the charter on Anti-Apartheid wherein it was carried out victoriously despite much opposition from some countries in the European Union.
To this day, the charter bears his name as the advocate who presented it at the Convention. It was indeed a proud day for Malaysia.
After graduating, Datuk Seri returned to our shores. He started his professional career as a Project Director, Radisson International Group (USA).
Datuk Seri was assigned to Langkawi to facilitate the preparation for the opening of LIMA LANGKAWI. His duties covered the preparation for the setting up of accommodation and logistics. He was instrumental for the setting up of the first six (6) STAR hotel in Malaysia, Radisson Tanjung Rhu Resort.
With the help of the Government of Malaysia and the private sector, the launch was truly a successful one.
Thereafter, due to other family commitments Datuk Seri, returned to Kuala Lumpur and commenced practice with Messrs. Sri Ram & Co., Advocates and Solicitors. He was under the guidance of the late Mr. Manjit Singh s/o Gurcharan Singh.
After his stint there, Datuk Seri set up his practice under the name and style of Krish Maniam & Co, Advocates and Solicitors in 1996.
From then, Datuk Seri never looked back and continued to grow the practice as a boutique firm specialising purely on commercial work. The firm has vast experience in areas of company acquisition, due-diligence, take-over and mergers, buy-outs, restructuring both corporate and financial, issuance of capital, bonds, warrants, ICULS, TSRs, etc.
Now the firm, despite being a boutique firm, does work for corporate organisations in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, India, China, USA, Germany, France, Cambodia, Australia, South Africa and United Kingdom.
Krish Maniam & Co. is now known throughout the region through its corporate works carried out. It also has affiliates in all major countries that it is involved in.
Datuk Seri, is the Managing Partner of the firm and has taken his boutique legal firm to the boundaries of the large firms in this region.
It must be noted, that Datuk Seri, has secured foreign direct investments into Malaysia and was instrumental in many large foreign corporations investing in Malaysia. Last year alone he has secured two new companies from India coming into Cyberjaya and a China Builder into Sabah and the Iskandar Development Corridor.
