Wolf Theiss Wins Prestigious Award in Austria

WOLF THEISS is pleased to announce that it has been awarded ‘Best Law Firm of the Year in Austria’ by the 2011 International Financial Law Review European Awards. The award was presented to Wolf Theiss Partner Andreas Schmid at the ceremony held Wednesday night in the Dorchester Hotel, London.

This is the fourth time Wolf Theiss has won this prestigious IFLR award for ‘Best Law Firm of the Year in Austria.’ The firm also won in 2003, 2006 and 2007. The Award recognises Wolf Theiss for its ability to find innovative solutions that help clients pursue market opportunities and achieve both their business and economic goals. In a year when the M&A market in the region has been relatively muted, this award takes on special significance.

After accepting the award on behalf of Wolf Theiss, Andreas Schmid commented: “We are delighted to have won this award for the fourth time and to be recognised for the innovative work we are doing for clients which included two first-to-market deals last year.” Wolf Theiss has a history of working on innovative and first-of-its-kind deals. Two recent deals include the first public offering for Verbund AG using a complex offer and a first-ever Eurobond issuance by the Republic of Albania. For the latter, the firm assisted the Albanian government in drafting new legislation that aligned Albania with international standards allowing the transaction to proceed.

“It is gratifying to be recognised for the passion, knowledge and talent that drive our desire and commitment to consistently provide clients with innovative solutions that help them pursue their business strategies throughout Central and Eastern Europe. We consider it to be an honour to be at the forefront of this dynamically changing region and will continue to provide our clients with precedent-setting advice,” Andreas Schmid concludes.
