Thank you Brexit!

Thanks to Brexit, we have been contacted 3 times last week!

When the U.K. leaves the EU on 31 December, there will be lots of ramifications, including for U.K.-based entities anticipating how they can keep trading in France.

The example we are sharing illustrates various situations we face in these particulars times.

The first company to contact us is producing and supplying purveyors of fine foods and they are looking to hire brand ambassadors/agents to represent the product and the luxury segment of the market and gourmet kitchen.

The second one is a company who runs events in Europe and because of Brexit and VAT they will need to open a business in continental Europe.

The third one is a UK-based company whose shareholders and directors are all four of Argentinean origin. Two of them live in the UK, one in France and one still in Argentina. They have designed an innovative product for the brewing industry. Their marketing of the product takes place from England but the distribution of the product takes place from France. They import the goods made in China into France and then take care of the distribution.

All the contacts are looking for the best possible structure, but for a small structure, such scenarios are difficult to manage in a cheap way.

Why were we contacted ? Basically Brexit is once again on the radar of people and businesses across the UK, according to recent YouGov research.

In a poll taken on 12 October 2020, respondents cited it as the third biggest issue facing the country (just behind health and the economy).

This is undoubtedly because 31 December 2020 marks the end of the Brexit transition period. It’s not yet fully known what will happen after this date with regard to trade between European Union (EU) countries and the UK.

Although Brexit impacts everybody living in the UK, businesses have always faced an immediate requirement to adapt because free trade in both goods and services across the EU, as well as the free movement of employees, are set to change.

Importers and exporters are worried about delays at the UK and EU ports.

Earlier surveys about Brexit have shown that businesses cite as important a need to know how the UK no longer being in the EU will impact the application of numerous things.

Do not hesitate to contact us!
