Minter Ellison is delighted to announce that Matthew Cunningham has joined the firm’s highly acclaimed finance practice as a partner, based in Sydney.
Mr Cunningham specialises in corporate finance and property finance. He joins Minter Ellison from Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
In announcing the appointment, Sydney Practice Group Head, Paul Paxton, recognised the experience and synergies Mr Cunningham brings to the team. “We have a 10 partner and 40 lawyer-strong team in Sydney that has forged a strong reputation working with domestic and international clients on some of the region’s most complex and innovative finance transactions. Matthew has worked with and is known by a number of our key clients and is well regarded for his strong technical skills and commercial approach,” Paul Paxton said.
Minter Ellison’s finance practice, which in Australia has been described by commentators as “the best in the market” for its “broad range of banking and finance advisory services”, boasts a number of ‘firsts’ in its leveraged and corporate finance practice as well as market-leading property deals, award-winning project finance/PPP transactions and high-profile structured finance deals.
In addition to its top-tier Australian presence, the practice is unique in also having a solid New Zealand presence, which facilitates seamless Trans-Tasman finance deals. Finance specialists on the ground in Minter Ellison’s London and Greater China offices enable the team to service clients’ multi-jurisdictional finance transactions.
Mr Cunningham holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (Oxford), Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) (Macquarie) and a Bachelor of Economics (Macquarie). He is admitted as a solicitor of the High Court of England and Wales, the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
