How to get the most out of your LinkedIn profile

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network, with more than 830 million members in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide!

Research conducted by Hubspot revealed that LinkedIn generates leads 227% more effectively than Facebook and Twitter, so it’s a tool your business should really be utilising.

So below are some of our top tips for getting the most out of your LinkedIn profile.

Make sure you’re posting consistently on the platform.

LinkedIn is a great place to post about your latest client wins, the big cases you’re working on, projects you’re involved in, or charitable work you might be conducting. However, users are reluctant to follow pages that aren’t updated with information regularly. Posting regularly can however be time-consuming.

An easy way to get around this is to break up specific pieces of content and spread them over a period of time. Not only will this increase your reach and consistency on your page, but by linking previous posts and articles to the bitesize pieces of information, you’ll be encouraging readers to check out more of the content across your profile.

Use hashtags

Like all social networking sites, algorithms ensure users see relevant content specific to them. These processes keep users more interested and engaged with the site. One of the ways of getting your content working alongside the algorithms and thus in front of the correct audience, is by using hashtags.

If you’re working in real estate, the best example would be to tag your content with the term #RealEstate. Hashtags are also used to spot trending content on the site, so pay close attention to what’s trending, because you might be able to write a post or article that discusses the topic – encouraging users to visit your page.

Join groups

Find like-minded people in niche groups across the LinkedIn network. These spaces are great to see professionals from your field or practice area talk about the latest news or regulatory changes. If you feel your practice area is too niche, you can set up your own LinkedIn group and start the conversation yourself. What a great way to promote your firm and its services!

Show your face

When working with our social media clients, we always recommend showing a friendly face. It’s a great way to reach more users on social media. People love to see people, and this sort of imagery always breaks through the dry graphics, adverts and articles.

Photos of team members at conferences/meetings, employee spotlights in the office, meeting clients or team drinks on a Friday evening, are all great ways to begin a conversation on social media and introduce yourselves to prospective clients.

To conclude

LinkedIn is an invaluable platform that needs to be utilised, particularly if your business is in the professional services sector.
