Growth sectors post covid

COVID-19 has come with its fair share of challenges, but it has also provided a wealth of opportunities.

There are many sectors which have really come into their own over the last 18 months, and are providing new business opportunities across the globe.

IR Global members cover a broad range of jurisdictions and sector focuses, so we decided to investigate where these opportunities were arising:

  • Cybersecurity: This entry is possibly the least surprising of the list. Everyone is at home, businesses are spread further across their regions, technology has had to catch up. An increasing reliance on technology to keep a business running has come with its own risks, and increased cybersecurity has become an essential business tool.
  • Ecommerce: We’ve all been guilty of using Amazon more than ever before, right? Online shopping and all the supporting sectors, such as logistics, reached an all-time high this year as people locked in their homes turned to their computers to fulfill their usual shopping needs. Due to the convenience, and with mindsets changing around being in public spaces, we think this trend is here to stay.
  • Legal Services: A huge range of legal services have been in higher demand as a result of the pandemic. With areas such as real estate having skyrocketed with people looking to leave busy cities, as well as a boom in mergers and acquisitions of businesses, lawyers certainly aren’t slowing down.
  • Pharmaceuticals: Another unsurprising addition – the pandemic has catapulted the pharmaceutical industry into overdrive. Between vaccinations and new treatments, the industry is rife with opportunity. The reach of the industry goes far beyond just products, with implications for manufacturing, logistics, personal protective equipment, and travel.

As we mentioned before, our members cover a wide range of expertise, from international tax, starting businesses in different jurisdictions, and legal support for all of your business needs.
