Romania is part of the largest worldwide Legal Hackathon
GLOBAL LEGAL HACKATHON ROMANIA
22nd-24th February 2019
Everyone that want to hack the legal system and to transform it into a better and technologically updated version have the chance to do so at the Global Legal Hackathon, the largest legal services hackathon in the world, an event that will take place between 22nd and 24th of February 2019 in Bucharest and simultaneous in 20 other countries. Global Legal Hackathon Romania is hosted and organized by “Hristescu and Partners” Law Firm.
It has become obvious that the technology that is so present in all the aspects of our lives, is arriving fast in the legal services industry, too and it impacts it significantly. The traditional view changes, while the classic approach to juridical act is shifting, creating space for innovation. We welcome change and with it the technology tools that will facilitate and grant efficiency to the legal act, both in the public and private sectors. Last year’s Hackathon edition proved that there are resources, motivation and energy for change, that Romania is ready and fully aligned to the industry trends and that the Global Legal Hackathon provides the right context to produce the needed impact” said Madalina Hristescu, Managing Partner at “Hristescu and Partners” Law Firm.
Description
At the hackathon, participating teams will be developers, legal industry specialists, as well as entrepreneurs that will work together to create technical solutions to improve the efficiency of the legal act.
The innovation should impact the legal services both in the business/private area, as well as public/governmental ones (for example better governance, juridical legislation, access to justice for all, etc.). The ideas should result in a software, website or a mobile application.
Mentoring sessions from multiple areas of expertise specialists will be available throughout the entire event. At the end of the three days, each team will present their solutions in front of the Jury, made of legal tech industry specialists, business and entrepreneurship and IT professionals.
The winning project will automatically enter the second phase of the competition that will take place online and will yield the finalists for the final round. These finalists will compete for the global award that will be awarded during the International Gala on May, 4th 2019 in New York.
Registration
Participants can register on their own or together with the team they would like to participate with. The registration is free of charge and open till 19th of February, 12:00 PM, at https://globallegalhackathon.ro/. Total number of participants is limited.
Venue and Schedule
The opening ceremony will take place on Friday, the 22nd of February at Commons Lounge Hub, followed by hacking days on Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th. Presentations of solutions in front of the Jury and the Award Gala are schedule for Sunday, 24th starting 3 PM.
