From Nevin Sanli: What are we doing now?

At Sanli Pastore & Hill, everyone at our 4 offices is working from home.  It took 1-2 hours to fully set-up everyone to handle all matters via telecommuting.  We are using emails, video-conferences, phones and webinars to care for our clients’ needs.  Everything we need from incoming calls, billing, A/R and A/P, HR, accounting, banking marketing, to business development is on.  This is our Plan B – the disaster scenario.  Our flexibility is our strength.  Darwin said “…it is not the smartest or strongest that survive…but the ones most capable of adapting to change…”

Unfortunately, we will have to use Plan B again: earthquakes, weather disasters, pandemics, terrorist attacks, riots or other unknown “Black Swan” events.  Every time, we fine tune it and make it better.

We first used Plan B in 1994 (SP&H was founded in ’92) during the Northridge earthquake.  Land lines and electricity were down, office buildings were closed and roads were blocked.  We were only 4 then.  We immediately set-up shop at my house.  With our “two” Motorola flip phones we called our 15 or so clients and said: “we are good and we will meet all deadlines.

Now, with over 200 clients at any time, the task is quite different but so is technology.  Again: we are good and we will meet all your deadlines!!!!
