Don’t ‘settle’ for second best: The Importance of Legal Advice in Settlement Agreements

This article by our Employment & Corporate Immigration Department considers a recent decision by the Labour Court, which found that a settlement agreement concluded between the parties was void, as the employee was not provided with an adequate opportunity to seek independent legal advice prior to signing the agreement. 

As a result, the Court found the dismissal of the employee was unfair and awarded the employee net compensation of €30,000.
