Bavelaar Attorneys at Law joins IR as the exclusive Corporate Law Member in the Netherlands

IR Global, the world’s largest exclusive network of advisory firms is delighted to introduce Pieter Ariëns Kappers of Bavelaar Attorneys at Law. Pieter has joined IR as our exclusive Corporate Law Member in the Netherlands.

Pieter Ariëns Kappers was admitted to the Dutch Bar in 1981. He regularly advises Dutch, US, German and other publicly or privately held foreign companies in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures, reorganizations, shareholder’s rights, corporate governance/control, the starting-up of business operations in the Netherlands, including commercial contracts and trade. He represents clients in the Dutch Courts and in arbitration and mediation.

Pieter also regularly advises on media and entertainment matters and art law matters. Pieter is a frequent lecturer and the author of various publications. He is a board member of several organizations.

From 1981 to 2014 Pieter was advocate and partner with Dutch law firm Boekel De Nerée where he headed an international Corporate/M&A team and the German Desk. For Boekel he was serving as Vice Chair of the worldwide law firm network TerraLex for many years. During 25 years Pieter was Secretary General to the Board of the Netherlands Federation of Appraisers, Brokers and Auctioneers of moveable goods (Federatie TMV).

In addition, he was Chair of the Art and Cultural Heritage law committee of the IBA, Chair of the Institute for the Code Cultural Sponsoring, a member of the Board of the Netherlands Film Museum (now EYE), Chairman of the Board of the Foundation International Art Film, he was General Secretary of the Netherlands Copyright Association VVA and is also a past member of the Comité Exécutif of the International Copyright Association ALAI.

Pieter has been listed in several editions of Legal 500 and listed in European Legal Experts for Corporate and Commercial Law.

Pieter is a member (and former Officer) of the International Bar Association IBA, a member of the Board of the Dutch German Society (Genootschap Nederland Duitsland), a member of the German –Dutch Lawyers Association, a member of the Dutch Copyright Association VVA and a member of the Dutch Association for Media and Communication Law VMC.
