Practicing lawyer of the Barcelona Bar Association. Graduate in law from Universidad de Barcelona (1992), with a Master in maritime law (1993).
She acquired experience as a litigation lawyer in shipping at the law firm Bufete Berenguer Comas and at the shipping agent Witty SA. She was also a P&I correspondent for ship insurers of the International Group of P&I Clubs, also providing legal advise. From 2006 to 21 June 2012 she gained experience in port law and nautical law as a lawyer attached to the Secretariat-General of the Barcelona Port Authority.
Cristina studied and practiced law under the Doctors of Law and Master Mariners, Santiago Hernández-Izal and Luis Berenguer Comas. She received maritime and port training from the North of England P&I Association at its residential course held in Newcastle, from Witty SA and the TCI Africa Group. Primer second prize in the “Pablo Acero 2013 Award” of the International Association of Port Law with her work “A legal perspective on abandoned vessels in Spanish ports”, she is also the autor of articles for specialized journals and has contributed to the International Comparative Legal Guide to Shipping Law 2013.
Cristina has extensive experience in advising Spanish and international clients ranging from large to médium shipowners such as CMA-CGM, Navicon and Nordana to small shipowners such as Greek and Turkish managers, P&I Clubs such as North of England, Japan, Britannia and Steamship Mutual, Insurance Companies such as INGOSSTRAKH, ZURICH and NATIONALE SUISSE, brokers such as WILLIS, AON and ALLIED to small and speciality marinas, product manufacturers, banks, fishing and vessel’s interests.
The firm was founded in September 2012 with the aim of providing legal advisory services, mainly in the area of port, transport, insurance and shipping law, in a timely and independent manner, for vessels, cargo and passengers, as well as insurance companies and P&I Clubs, concession operators, port operators and other legal firms, contributing the value of our experience in the public sector.
The firm also offers legal advisory services in the areas of transport law and corporate law.
