Shahrul Fazli is an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. His legal career kicked off in 2008 when he was retained as a pupil in Messrs Shearn Delamore & Co. He was subsequently engaged by the firm as Legal Assistant after been called to the bar on 7/11/2009.
His legal services and experience covers a vast application of civil laws specializing in Shipping/Maritime Law, Land Acquisition & Development, Torts and Company Law. During his time with the firm, he was parked under the firm’s Dispute Resolution division and offered
services from advising to litigation works majoring in Alternative Remedies including Injunctive Relief, Vessel’s Arrest, Stop and Restrain Orders, and Certiorari and Mandamus under Judicial Review. In his practice, he also delved into alternative dispute resolution including Mediation, Closing Negotiation for Out-of-Court Settlement, and Ad-Hoc tribunals.
In April 2013, he made a leap into the shipping industry where he was employed by CMA CGM Malaysia Sdn Bhd (an agent and wholly owned subsidiary of CMA CGM SA) as the company’s inhouse legal advisor under the arm of its' Corporate & Legal Compliance unit.
A few note-worthy works during his employment with CMA CGM are the company’s corporate restructuring (including sister and subsidiary companies), a 5-year renewal of the company’s MSC Status Company, anti-competition enquiry, seizure and disposal of dangerous goods or prohibited substances, marine insurance claims and dispute in marine fuel supply to CMA CGM’s fleet of container vessels. As the company’s corporate and legal compliance personnel, Shahrul Fazli reported to CMA CGM Malaysia’s Managing Director and CMA CGM’s Legal Division in Marseille and his services covers Marine Law and Practices for East Asian Region.
Shahrul Fazli is now a partner of Messrs Syahrul & Hamidi and offers his services and experiences in Civil Litigation, Alternative Dispute Resolutions and Corporate Exercises.
