Paul is a criminal defence specialist with a focus on white collar crimes, securities and regulatory enforcement matters.
Paul is the first native Mandarin and Cantonese speaker with law degrees from both Civil Law and Common Law jurisdictions recruited by the criminal defence department of the firm. His personal background and skillsets equip him with great edge in handling PRC-related matters and clients.
He has extensive experiences in handling long trials of complex commercial crimes. For example, Paul defended and acquitted a successful entrepreneur who was charged with money laundering for over US$73 million in a 70-day District Court trial and 35 days of which were held in an appointed Shenzhen Court under the Mutual Legal Assistance Scheme between Hong Kong and PRC.
As an advocate, Paul appears before the Magistrates’ Courts and the District Court for bail applications, pleas in mitigation, trials and other ancillary applications. He was also selected by the Department of Justice as a fiat prosecutor in prosecuting cases at the Magistracy level.
Paul also specialises in securities and regulatory matters and represented numerous board members of Hong Kong listed companies in various Securities and Future Commission (“SFC”) and the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (“SEHK”) investigations.
He was invited as the panel speaker at the International Congress of Forensics & Police Tech 2017 -“The Securities Investigations in Hong Kong”.
