John is the Managing Partner of UHY Bain & Associates.
He earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration (specialty – Computers & Information Security) from Northcentral University, Arizona (USA). He is an FCCA (Fellow, UK Chartered Certified Accountant), and has an MBA in Finance from Alliance Manchester Business School and the University of Whales, UK).
He holds Diplomate status with the American Board of Certified Forensic Examiners. He is also a MAFF (Master Analyst in Financial Forensics) sponsored by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, a CMA (US Certified in Management Accounting), sponsored by the Institute of Management Accountants, a CFM (US Certified in Financial Management) sponsored by the Institute of Management Accountants, a CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) sponsored by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and a CSAR (Certified Specialist in Asset Recovery), sponsored by the International Association of Asset Recovery. He is a member of the International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals (INSOL), sponsored by INSOL International, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). He is also a licensed Public Accountant and Insolvency Practitioner by the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants.
John has more than 33 years of post-qualification experience in auditing, beginning at Ernst & Young, and the Forensic and Litigation Partner with HLB Galanis Bain, a member of the Forum of Firms International Accounting Network.
He is proficient in investigative accounting, risk assessments, systems analysis, computer auditing, data science, data analytics, digital strategies, and advising large and medium-sized law firms and companies. He has extensive experience in forensic accounting, computer security, business litigation, fraud investigations, insolvencies and bankruptcies, calculation of economic damages, and business valuations.
His experiences include providing attest and consulting services to both public and privately held companies. These companies range in size, from startups to hundreds of millions in revenues.
He is a member of UHY’s Special Interest Group on Auditing and is certified by the ACCA in International Auditing. John is also an Adjunct Professor in Advanced Accounting and Accounting Information Systems at the University of The Bahamas.
He is the founder of UHY Bain & Associates (UHY is a member of the Forum of Firms), and has served in many client-facing management and leadership roles. He works closely with his clients as a quality resource, coordinating the services of UHY- Bain & Associates to deliver timely and proactive advice.
John’s experience includes five years with a Big Four firm. John has considerable financial services experience, including having served as a CFO of two substantial publicly traded financial services institutions, Lloyds (TSA) Bank and Trust, and the National Bank of Canada.
He is the partner in charge of business development and served as a Board member in both public institutions and a not-for-profit charity.

John has assisted attorneys in litigation matters, and has worked with most of the QCs in The Bahamas in matters including Economic Damages, Business Valuations, Insolvencies, Partnership disputes, Shareholder Disputes, and Forensic examinations, including Fraud, Receivership, and Liquidations. He also worked with renowned British QC Edward Fitzgerald on a matter taking place in a UK overseas territory.
