Jayson Brian Schwarz LLM, was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1978. He practices in the areas of real estate law, corporate/commercial transactions, businessstructure, tax, succession and corporate planning.
He has been involved in international commercial transactions involving various American, Caribbean, South American, African and European jurisdictions.
Mr. Schwarz has appeared before the various Courts of the Province of Ontario, as well as numerous administrative tribunals, such as the Ontario Insurance Commission, the Ontario Municipal Board, various Committees of Adjustment and municipal and regional councils, the Ontario Racing Commission, The Ontario Milk Marketing Board, the Immigration Appeal Board, the Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal, the Worker's Compensation Appeal Tribunal, and the Unemployment Insurance Commission.
Mr. Schwarz is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, Canadian Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the Metropolitan Toronto Lawyers Association, As well, he belongs to the BILD (the greater Toronto homebuilders association), the Ontario Homebuilders Association and the Canadian Home Builders Association.
Mr. Schwarz completed his Master’s degree in Business Law at Osgoode Hall Law School in 2011 where his major paper and thesis involved amending, the existing and providing a new version of, the Companies Ordinance of the Turks and Caicos Islands to the then government of the Islands. Mr. Schwarz received the Osgoode Certificate in Mining Law in 2013. Recently, at the request of Ashni Singh, Minister of Finance of Guyana, he provided a draft for consideration of new Offshore Banking Legislation.
Mr. Schwarz has written for and been quoted in several large national publications, newspapers and has appeared as an expert on radio and television. In addition he has been a speaker for the Ontario Government for its Tarion, New Home Warranty, Division. He has been since 1997, the resident in home real estate legal writer for the Home Guides published by Wall 2 Wall Media a division of Yellow Pages. In addition Mr. Schwarz recently completed a consumer vignette for placement on the Yellow Pages national website on “Why you need a Real Estate Lawyer to buy your home”.
In addition to representing some of the largest condominium and freehold developer/builders in Canada, Mr. Schwarz and through him Schwarz Law LLP has become widely known as one of the pre-eminent consumer real estate law firms in the GTA, closing hundreds of deals annually.
