Grenadier, Duffett, Levi, Winkler & Rubin, P.C.  is a boutique family law firm practicing in Northern Virginia, primarily in the jurisdictions of the counties of Fairfax, Arlington, Loudoun, Prince William, Stafford, Fauquier and the city of Alexandria.  The firm currently has 8 attorneys, all of whom have been practicing for more than 10 years, four of whom are AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell.  We routinely handle matters pertaining to divorce, custody and visitation, spousal support, child support, post-divorce matters, prenuptial agreements, and the division of complex property issues.  The attorneys in the firm frequently take a team approach to develop a strategy uniquely tailored for each individual case.

Ilona Ely Grenadier is the founding partner of the firm and has been practicing law since 1968.  She has been included in Washingtonian magazine’s Top Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America (from inception), and Super Lawyers, and has earned Martindale‑Hubbell’s top AV rating. Mrs. Grenadier is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Family Lawyers.  She is also a member of the Fairfax bar Association, the Alexandria Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyer’s Association, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.

Ms. Grenadier graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1962 and from the George Washington School of Law in 1967, earning the Order of the Coif. She came to family law in what might now be considered a non-traditional manner. At her first job out of law school, Ms. Grenadier, the only female attorney at her firm at the time, was assigned a custody case because nobody else wanted to do it.  Ms. Grenadier won the case and handled all of the firm’s divorce work moving forward. In 1974, Ms. Grenadier opened her own law firm in Alexandria. She remained one of the few women in the field for decades, and as more young women began practicing family law in the 1990s, served as a mentor and role model to many practitioners.  Well-known as a fiery and fierce advocate, Ilona is respected in particular for her vast knowledge of family law and for devotion to her clients.
