Show more +Gustavo Molina Valdivia holds a law degree from the Universidad Católica Redemptoris Mater in Managua, Nicaragua in 1999. He was incorporated as a lawyer and notary public by the Supreme Court of Justice of Nicaragua in 2000. Gustavo began working as a legal assistant for the Nicaraguan Electricity Company (ENEL) in 1996, during the years of the privatization of some of ENEL's assets that culminated in the year 2000. As of May 2000, he was an internal lawyer in the newly created National Electric Transmission Company (now ENATREL), where he had the opportunity to know and apply the recently issued rules for the operation of Nicaragua's electricity market. During this period, in July-August 2002, he took a course on Introduction to American Law taught by the Institute for US Law at George Washington University in Washington, DC, USA. In 2005-2006 he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study a LLM in Natural Resources and Environmental Law with a specialization in Energy Law.
In February 2007, he became the legal advisor of an Hydroelectric Project developed by a company owned by the Brewing Company of Nicaragua, where he participated in the process for the implementation of the project under the " Project Finance ", among other functions. Later in March 2009 he became the Head of the Natural Resources Department of one of the most recognized law firms in Nicaragua until May 2010.
From May 2010 to August 2016 he was Legal Manager of Polaris Energy Nicaragua S.A. In this position, he was in charge of all legal aspects of the Company, including regulatory, contractual and advisory services to the Board of Directors of PENSA, related companies in Nicaragua and Latin America as well as the parent company Polaris Infrastructure Inc., in Canada, which is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and has developed the San Jacinto Tizate Geothermal Project, funded by seven of the world's leading development banks.
Between 2015 and 2016, he attended a Degree of Business Administration for Lawyers, taught by the Central American Institute of Business Administration (INCAE) and Georgetown University, developed in the INCAE campus in Nicaragua, Costa Rica and in Washington, DC, campus of Georgetown. As one of his professional goals, in August 2016 he founded the firm GMOLINA Attorneys at Law. Gustavo has been a professor of regulation and energy policy in the Masters of Renewables taught by the Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN) - León since 2012. He has also been professor in regulatory and investment issues in energy projects at Universidad Centroamericana (UCA) in Managua since 2016.
