Gunther is a well-known specialist in corporate and general commercial law with a particular focus in the life sciences sector. Gunther Schmidt, born in 1976, studied law at the University of Hamburg (Germany). His legal clerkship was spent in Kiel and Hamburg (at Graf von Westphalen Bappert & Modest, as well as other practices). Gunther began practicing law as an inhouse legal counsel in 2004 at KarstadtQuelle AG, later known as Arcandor AG. In 2008 Gunther joined Zenk Rechtsanwälte, a major German law firm, as an associate and became partner in 2012 before co-founding ENDMANN.SCHMIDT in 2014 as a partner.
