Show more +Elena Poleonova was born in Kazakhstan in 1968. She graduated with honours from the Karaganda State University, with specialty "Jurisprudence".
In 90-s she worked in the Prosecutor's Office of the Karaganda Region and in Karagandaglavsnab (Karaganda Main Procurement Office).
Since 2001 Elena has been working in NBZ, and after the rebranding of legal departments of the company in spring 2006 she joined the newly organized structure — the “Olevinsky, Buyukyan and Partners” Bureau of Legal Affairs."
Within a year the lawyer Elena Poleonova became the head of the Legal Department.
Elena Poleonova coordinated work on one of the most successful projects of the Bureau of Legal Affairs — support of FGUP (Federal State Unitary Enterprise) Research Institute of Tire Industry (NIIShP) bankruptcy
Like most research centres of the Soviet era, NIIShP was planned unprofitable company. In 90-s NIIShP mired in debt. In 2001, when the total debt amounted to about 68 million rubles, one of the NIIShP’s creditors initiated the bankruptcy proceeding. In the course of external management two new legal entities were founded on the basis of NIIShP, the work was quite successful, an investor was found for the company. Suddenly, it was reported that all the assets of NIIShP allegedly had already been sold before. Elena Poleonova had no doubt those were the forged documents relied on by those pretending to the Institute — or rather its land, located in the centre of Moscow. The opponents initiated legal proceedings in Tatarstan — they understood that in Moscow they would lose. Despite thorough preparation of documents for all court sessions, in Tatarstan the case was lost in all three instances.
Then the lawyers instructed by Elena Poleonova prepared a statement to the Supreme Arbitrazh Court of the Russian Federation, which detailed the circumstances of the case and provided all the possible arguments in favour of the legitimate owners of the NIIShP’s assets. In April 2006, the Russia's highest judicial authority — the Presidium of the Supreme Arbitrazh Court of the Russian Federation — cancelled the resolution of courts of all the lower instances and dismissed the invading company's claims to the Institute. Thus, the dispute case over the rights to the NIIShP’s assets came to an end. This resolution of the SAC (Supreme Arbitrazh Court) Presidium knew no equals, since the vast majority of such cases, even in case of a positive decision, is sent for retrial to the arbitrazh court of a lower instance. In order the SAC to rule so unambiguously, the rightness of one of the Parties was to be absolutely clear for the court, and this clarity was a consequence of the long, professional and hard work of the lawyers.
Elena Poleonova became a partner of the bureau of legal affairs in 2008.
This year, Elena Poleonova was included in the list of the best Russian lawyers of the Best Lawyers international rating in the nominated category “Litigation”.
She is married, she has got a daughter.
