Biography

Colin Egemonye is the Managing Partner of Goldsmiths Solicitors and heads the firm’s Oil and Gas and Intellectual Property Practice Groups. He is also an integral part of our corporate/commercial law, energy and projects Practice Groups.

Colin is a dual qualified Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1993 and enrolled on the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales in 1998. He lived and practiced for many years as a Solicitor in London before relocating to Nigeria to head Goldsmiths Solicitors. He graduated with an LL.B (Hons.) law degree from the University of Nigeria and attended the College of Law (now University of Law) Bloomsbury, London for his Law Society of England and Wales qualifying exams. He has an Executive Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Middlesex University Business School, London and also attended the prestigious United Nations University Tokyo, Japan, where he undertook the United Nations International Courses on Environment and Sustainable Development.

Colin’s has been involved in many ground breaking deals in various jurisdictions and his professional experience includes but by no means limited to acting as lead counsel to the transaction advisory team on the $1bn 167 km Lagos/Ibadan Express Road Expansion Project. He was part of the lenders due diligence team in a $750 million Category A Greenfield Cement plant in Nigeria. Acting as part of a team of international consultants, he was engaged in a $20 billion Liquefied Natural Gas Project in Nigeria. He also acted as a consultant on the £1.4 billion, Kosovo East-West High Way, connecting Pristina, Kosovo to the rest of the country and the $450 million Chiansi Irrigation Project, Lusaka, Zambia.
