Professional Experience:
Mr. Bonnell is a senior partner of Curtis Dawe with 50 years of experience in a wide range of practice areas. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree (Political Science and History) from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Dalhousie University in 1970. He was admitted to the Newfoundland and Labrador Bar in December, 1970.
His primary practice includes corporate law, commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, securities law, commercial real estate development and financing, succession law and estate planning. For many years, Mr. Bonnell was an instructor in the Corporate Matters and Commercial Financing section of the Bar Admission course of the Law Society. He is also a former governor and Chair of the Board of Governors of the Law Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Awards and Recognition:
Mr. Bonnell was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1992.
Outside the Firm:
Mr. Bonnell is a member of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Canadian Bar Association. He is an elder of St. David’s Presbyterian Church and a member of the Presbytery of Newfoundland of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.
