Fajara Chambers was founded in 1995 by Ann Rivington a UK qualified lawyer with 40 years combined practice experience in the UK and The Gambia. The Chambers are conveniently located at the Standard Chartered House, Kairaba Avenue, Kanifing Municipality, the heart of the commercial and financial district of The Gambia.
The practice has a wide client base of local and international corporate and private individual retained clients. This includes local and international manufacturers, international airlines, local and international NGO’s, international and locally owned hotels and tourist enterprises, financial institutions, diplomatic missions and international investors. The practice receives agency instructions from international law firms in Europe, USA, and Africa as well as locally based clients.
The members of the Chambers have a combined practice experience of over 60 years of offering and delivering legal services and the practice has the capacity to undertake large and complex transactions handled with high professional and ethical standards and the delivery of high quality legal services.
The Chambers provide tax advice to start-up businesses and companies, individuals, local and foreign investors ranging from payroll tax advice, income tax advice, tax on private and commercial property sale and acquisition, expatriate tax advice, wealth management amongst others.
The Chambers have a strong litigation team specialised in civil, commercial and criminal cases from the lower courts to the Supreme Court of The Gambia. The Chambers are also involved in debt recovery and handling complex commercial transactions including banking transactions and corporate legal services including preparing of complex corporate transaction documents and agreements like mortgages, loan syndication and all other banking documents.
The Chambers is strongly engaged in real estate and property transaction and provides legal service on acquisition and sale of properties and processing of title documents.
The Chambers have a strong and excellent litigation team representing clients in both civil, criminal and commercial matters from the Industrial Tribunal to the Supreme Court of The Gambia.

Ann Rivington is a dual British and Irish national who has lived in The Gambia since 1985.
She was called to the Bar in The Gambia in 1993 and founded Fajara Chambers in 1995. She continues to lead the practice.
She began her career in England and was admitted to practise in 1981. She remains a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.
Ms. Rivington has developed a diverse and international private client and corporate practice including a number of diplomatic missions. She has held the position of Honorary Legal Advisor to the successive British High Commissioners since 2001.
Ms. Rivington’s has wide experience in most aspects of legal practice in The Gambia and currently focused on corporate and commercial clients, conveyancing and property development schemes, wills, trusts and probate, employment law both contentious and non contentious, matrimonial and family matters.
