Senior Partner – Andreas C. Richter
Mr. Andreas C. Richter is legal counsel to some of the leading international enterprises doing business in Thailand and Southeast Asia. A partner at Blumenthal Richter & Sumet since 1996, Andreas has played a pivotal role in transforming BRS into one of the largest independent law firms in Thailand.
Andreas specializes in corporate, commercial and business law and regularly advises North American, European and Japanese multi-national corporations, SMEs, as well as start-up companies and high-net-worth individuals in connection with their respective business affairs on, inter alia: Thailand market entry strategies; the establishment of wholly foreign-owned subsidiary companies in Thailand and related licensing and permitting issues; Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) promotion; joint ventures; cross-border M&A; labour relations; and intellectual property protection.
Andreas has worked as a team leader on the negotiation, preparation and implementation of some of the region’s most significant investment projects of chemical, food, and automotive supplier manufacturing facilities, as well as regional service and distribution companies. He is regularly called upon to render specialist advice to prominent foreign law firms whose clients are entering the Thailand market and to assist with Thailand related aspects of global transactions and acquisitions.
Andreas is a Thai-German national and obtained his law degree from the University of Hamburg in Germany. He is a certified director and graduate member of the Thai Institute of Directors, and a member of the Hamburg Bar Association and the Inter-Pacific Bar Association.
Andreas is a former Chairman of the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand Law Committee, and, for six years, represented the Asia-Pacific region as Vice-Chair on the International Board of Directors of INTERLAW, a global association of independent business law firms. Andreas is currently serving his fifth term on the Board of Directors of the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the International School Bangkok.
